Hi all. It’s been a few quiet days around here. Not much is happening, except my migraines, which, quite frankly, are making me nutty. In an effort to feel better, I’m taking a bath. If you know me well, you know I prefer showers, but the situation is direly so.
This is day 6. And have been taking migraine meds as prescribed. But they are useless in the face of these relentless migraines.
What else is new? Well, I’ve been working on my jewelry, and migraine-permitting, I will be selling it at a craft/vendor show in Bourbonnais, IL. Been as diligently as possible working on a nice display, and will soon post pictures.
I’ve been thinking in all the shootings of lately and what they mean to the mental health community. I’m angered at the media for doing armchair diagnoses on the perpetrators and calling them mentally ill, even when there is no factual evidence of whether they truly have an illness.
People with mental illness are more likely to become victims of violence than perpetrators of violence.
But going back to the violent outbursts, at the risk of becoming an armchair doctor myself, I think they are a cultural phenomenon. Why is it that other nations with or without legalized weapons don’t kill others because (insert excuse, oh say, she/they wouldn’t sleep with me?)
